A first-generation American, born in Vermont to Mexican parents, Michael’s early interest in food was nurtured by his mother in their family kitchen at home. After graduating from the New England Culinary Institute, Michael worked in San Franciscounder Chef Gary Danko. After time working at both Plumpjack Café and Rose Pistola, Michael returned to the east coast to work under legendary Chef Gordon Hamersley in Boston for 6 years, achieving the role of Sous Chef. He next became Chef de Cuisine at Sorellina, earning 3 ½ stars from the Boston Globe and a “Best New Restaurant” award from Esquire magazine. After leaving Sorellina, Michael joined Rustic Kitchen as Corporate Executive Chef. In 2012 Michael became Chef at the Regal Beagle in Brookline, a suburb of Boston. The Regal Beagle was then named Best Neighborhood Restaurant by the Improper Bostonian and Boston Magazine. Most recently Michael was the Executive Chef of New York’s venerable Café Luxembourg. Michael joined our team in 2018.
